Shoes
Most households in Hawaiʻi request shoes off inside but we're ok if you wear a dedicated set of "house shoes" inside. Please store shoes inside in the "slippah" trays.

Please take care when opening and closing screens as they are fragile. Let us know if you have any trouble with a screen.

Groceries
Please check in with us before buying any common grocery staples such as condiments, eggs, milk, butter, coffee, tea, sugar, etc. We prefer to share our staples with you when possible and are sometimes able to get local fruits from our friends and neighbors. Please only purchase what you will be able to consume while you are visiting. Target is our go to for groceries as the cost and selection are both good. Sack N Save and KTA are Hawaiʻi based grocery stores that have fun and unique items however the cost for basic goods is higher.
Bugs & Geckos
Let us know if you see ants, centipedes, or geckos in the ohana and we will remove them. All opened food items MUST be stored in the refrigerator (this includes dry goods like cereals, crackers, and chips).
Food Waste
Place food waste in the container in the fridge to minimize attracting bugs inside. Let us know when this container is full or if you have food that needs to go into a garbage disposal.
Coffee Grounds Waste
Store used coffee grounds in the container under the sink or dump directly on the compost pile in the northwest corner of the ohana yard. Do not put coffee grounds down the sink drain.
Recycling
Place rinsed HI-5 items in the box on the kitchen counter (do not crush cans). Most drink containers (cans/plastic/glass) are HI-5, however, most larger plastic/glass containers are not.
Trash
Let us know when trash is full.
